Featured Project

Yelp’s Product team rolled out updated UI to improve how users engage with Yelp reviews and transition to the industry standard of using emoji “reactions.” Product enlisted the marketing team to help promote the release in emails and PR content. While the product UI is 2D illustration, we wanted to push the envelope in the marketing assets by converting the emojis to 3D. This would allow us to be expressive in how we represent these reactions while contributing to our brand transition to 3D design. Below is the key art that I modeled, textured and animated using Cinema 4D.

I collaborated with graphic designers to determine how this key art could be versioned out to various placements, including this product release email banner.

  • Product animation

The original brief did not ask for product animation. However, anticipating that Product may be intrigued by how the reactions would look animated, I mocked up the animations in situ. After seeing how the animated reactions could improve usability and add delight, the Product team devoted engineering resources to integrate my LottieFile animations into the app.
